Cool guy

Randomly surfing the net can be a cool idea, I stumbled upon this speed camera site, it’s USA based, but the guy involved takes a stand against revenue based camera installations and even drives out to sites that are being monitored by a physical police presence and holds up a sign warning motorists to slow down.

A gut reaction may be that he is helping people cheat the law, but as he testifies in a videoed encounter with a plod he is simply reducing everyone’s speed in the area rather than the panic reaction of a few drivers who actually spot the police.

As a biker and an obvious target for the boys in blue, I support this type of action and have done it myself by ‘waving down’ oncoming traffic to warn them of mobile gatsos or police radar traps.  To be honest, I’ve also done it when i think oncoming drivers are taking the piss a bit… it serves the same goal.

Better, no rain.

I had a great ride home, even though everything was still a bit damp from this morning, and am looking forward to a few days off. It’s odd really, my new job seems good and the people are nice but I just haven’t settled in as quickly as I normally do. As I mentioned before I think a lot of this is to do with being knackered and the sudden increase in commuting distance, and I guess I’m still a touch nervous that it will all go to shit again after building up my hopes with previous company so much.

Anyway some good rest and relaxation and I think next week will be so much easier to cope with… Oh and still no laptop!

Rain!

Lady in rainToday the heavens opened like I haven’t seen in years, and thanks to my new job I had no choice but to ride in it. My usual 50 minute commute turned into about an hour and a half because, basically, I couldn’t see anything, the rain was that harsh.

This has been a tough week all in all. Giving up smoking has screwed up my sleep patterns and my longer commute and slightly harder day has just made it worse so I am looking forward to a restful weekend so I can start afresh next week.

My weekend will hopefully comprise of…

  • Maybe a trip to Warwick to collect my new laptop (looking doubtful I must admit)
  • The European Formula One GP
  • Some World of Warcraft
  • Sorting a few computing bits out for my Dad
  • Sleeping… lots…

With any luck the weather will improve and I can use it to dry off my clothes on the ride home ;)
