New Nokia E90

Well my fascination with smart phones continues, and having previously tried the Nokia 9300 and been impressed, although almost immediately regretting not waiting for the 9300i (wifi), I decided to have anoimg_2281ther go.

The phone is the fairly usual ‘brick’ size, I mean it’s not really a complaint rather just a fact of these devices.  It feels heavier than the 9300 and personally I think it’s less stylish.  When you first open the device all that goes away, it really is well designed, strong build quality and superb hinges.  The immediate benefit is that the external screen allows you to access any of the applications where as previous communicators only allowed very simple contacts/sms/phone functionality without opening the phone.

I haven’t really had time to put it through it’s paces but my first impressions are good, it properly selects connections methods when a wifi signal is in range and the battery life is outstanding.

Once I’ve had time to read all the tips and advice on usage (and there is a lot of info on the net about this phone) I’ll blog some more about it.

Kael’Thas video

We downed a boss in WoW called Kael’Thas sunstrider a few weeks ago and our GM made a video of the final battle and I thought it could do with some improving, so here is the link…

Not happy slacking

Most people would love a high paid job where they don’t need to work all that hard, where the boss is great, company benefits are good and most of your peers are nice friendly people.

However I seem to have a retarded gene in there, I can’t just tick along happily, watching youtube, counting the minutes till ‘hometime’ like so many others.  I like things a bit screwed up, tight deadlines, angry customers and difficult technical problems.  In that environment, surrounded by good people I flourish.

So once again I change my job, there is nothing wrong with my current one, it just doesn’t give me that ‘oooompf’ I need to enjoy my day at work.

I’ll be moving house too as the new job carries the same commute as my partner’s and brings us closer to my kids.  So everyone is a winner.

Happy Christmas!!

On the 21st of December, between working, being ill and stuff I decided that I should buy myself a Christmas Present. I logged onto ebay and type in “Nokia N95 Black 8GB” spotted one for around 350 quid, clicked buy it now and entered my details…. The user I was buying from had around 80 or so feedback nothing really bad, nothing really good. Anyway it was bloody 20 quid postage so I assumed I’d get it recorded and arrive quickly… but by the 9th of Jan I realised I was being done over.

I attempted to contact the seller with no luck, 3-4 messages sent on ebay with no reply, so I found that the seller had been posting new auctions on ebay and found a mobile telephone number on them. I called the buyer to find out what was going on etc etc and no reply. Then I log onto ebay and file a claim, which sends me over to paypal.

Now I know what your thinking, I’ve seen the various hate sites etc about paypal, but all in all, im willing (within reason) to give most things a try. So I fill in all the information required for this claim, and select to escalate my claim because I’d already tried to resolve it myself.

Within a few hours, the seller sends me a email with a photo/scan of a receipt from the post office for 5 quid posting something or other which is a load of crap obviously, he also sends this to paypal and for the royal mail tracking number he puts in “First Class”

I notice that theres no button I could press at this time to add comments/information to the claim, so I gave paypal a ring.

After fighting my way through the automated telephone, which by the way if you say the word “Agent” a few times you get a human - I finally did get a human, a female one sounded in her mid 30s (hope she doesn’t read this) really happy kinda bird. I explained that I couldnt see a button to update paypal with any information and she explained that when they need my input they will email me, and also a few things about my claim. Apparently in this situation, because the seller cannot prove that he posted the item, the claim will close in my favour.

I thanked her for the information and just tried not to think about the whole thing, and got on with work etc. Today I logged into my online banking to see a refund, all in all im pretty damn impressed. Went down to the carphonewhorehouse today and brought the phone brand new, yeah cost me like a bit more but I finally have it!!!

 A happy ending.

More wow

Well, probably un-suprisingly I have been playing wow rather a lot lately, my paladin is now level 60 and I’m finding it tough going in hellfire.  With my previous toon I did all the outland content grouped with a good friend of mine… all the way to level 70.

Never-the-less I will press on and get him up to 70, so I can start enjoying the end game as a healer (or maybe tankadin ;) ).  One I’m past the drudge of levelling I’ll no doubt post a bit more about progress.

Anyway, where’s that hellboar…
